House Adjourned
I feared the day would never come when those blessed words would appear on the green annunciator screen, but praise be to God - the House is in recess!
Woohoo!

Because the work we do is unpaid or underpaid, and if we do something well it's our boss who gets the all the credit and if we do something badly it's our fault, and if we solve a problem for a constituent then we don't get thanked and if we can't we're arse-kissing lickspittles working for lazy backsliding MPs who don't care about us, and because it only takes one complaint from a constituent about a missing letter or un-returned phonecall to get us a bollocking because it's your responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen, even though nobody had sought to make us aware of our duties in this regard previously, and because we're always the last to find out what our boss is up to but expected to be the first on hand to sort it out when it goes tits-up, and because the only future we have to look forward to after life on the Parliamentary Estate learning the skills of diplomacy, research, and what Nixon referred to as "plumbing" is a career in management consultancy or a long stay in a drying-out clinic, in spite of all of this
WE ARE BAG-CARRIERS
